I think the prime reason to keep things in family from generation to generation is that the individuals are emotionally attached with things. In my country, it is a kind of tradition to keep things and in each family there is always something which is transfering from elders to youngsters. Similarly in my family, there are a lot of things of my ancestors like watch , gun of my grandfather amd some jewellery of my grandmother. Here I am going to talk about a thing which is really very important for my family,that is, ring of my grandmother.

Actually there is a interesting story behind it, my mother to told me that once my both grandparents visited to a fair for enjoyment and fun and there my grandmother saw a ring which was alluring and she really wanted to it, then, they both visited to that shop for buying, but, unfortunately, it cost an arm and leg so she dropped idea of purchasing it and came back to home but my grandfather bring some money from home and again visited to fair for buying that bring for his wife and when she gave it to her she was over the moon. Now, my mother have that ring because my grandmother gave it to her when she became the daughter-in- law of my grandparents. I firstly saw this piece of jewellery when I was almost 7 years old and my mother was woreing it in family occasion . I really like thesekind of things because it represent the tradition and culture of my nation as well as it is a beautiful memory which is given by our old ones.

Question 1 do you think are better, old things or new things?

Answer – I think both things have their own value. The old thing is a memory of old generation and we have some sentimental value those things in our heart. Whereas, new things like technological gadget make our life more convenient.

Question 2 Besides family photographs, what are some other things that people keep in their family for a long time?

Answer – there are various other things such as, vehicles, furniture, antique mirrors that family like to keep the because each thing is worthy in its own.

Question 3 In your culture, what sorts of things do people often pass down from generation to generation? (Why?)

Answer – The most common thing which is passed from generation to generation in my culture is jewellery like necklaces, bengles, to women and old vehicles, weapons to men.

Question 4 Why do you think people keep these things?

Answer – I think there are many reasons behind it. The first and foremost is that people are emotionally attached to things whether those things are materialistic or not. secondly, with a few things, people have some memories which cannot be replaced.. Thirdly, some people like to collect old things like to coins, painting because of their hobby.

Question 5 What are the benefits (= what is the value/what is the importance) of keeping some old things in the family?

Answer – There are various reasons behind it,like, through this individuals are able to know about the old designs of things like jewellery ,furniture with enhance their knowledge about old work. Moreover, old things are valuable because with them people have some unforgettable memories.

Question 6 Do you think it’s good to recall the past?

Answer – I think recalling a past is good because there are awesome memories which bring smile on our face and help to reduce our stress, while, sometime fool decision when we start remembering the bad moments which make our mood even more worst. Thus, individuals should try to recall the optimistic memories and avoid bad ones.
