Urban areas have many parks and gardens. Some people say that as the population increases, authorities should build housing instead of parks. I disagree, as gardens are not only a source of entertainment but also venues for social events.
To commence with, it is a vague idea to replace parks with buildings, as it is not the only way to provide better housing. Building skyscrapers can also solve the housing problem. Gardens are places of entertainment where people spend their free time. Everyone is busy in their own lives due to the hectic schedule of jobs and competition at the workplace. To relax their minds, people prefer to walk in the park and exercise. For instance, research conducted by Times Magazine reveals that 85% of people spend their leisure and relaxing time in gardens. Consequently, parks play an indispensable role in every individual’s life.
Furthermore, social events also take place in gardens, such as medical camps, wedding functions, and tournaments. If parks disappear, where will people hold these events? For example, Dubai organizes running competitions for every resident in their society compounds or parks to promote physical activity. Because they do not have time for exercise or workouts, they benefit from these social events.
To conclude, rather than replacing parks, the government ought to improve infrastructure. Parks play a crucial role in the lives of humans.
