Some people believe that students should acquire working experience during their gap year instead of travelling. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
It is commonly believed by masses of one group that adolescents should take up some jobs to increase their exposure while others prefer roaming in different countries during their gap year. Although travelling brings joy and freshness in life after a long hard work in high school, I believe doing internships or working on some projects will bring more benefits in the long run. Therefore, I am going to reflect on this essay my own view on this trend and to provide arguments which confirm my opinion strongly.
On the one hand, gaining working experience has many advantages. Not only does it brings monetary benefits but also professional exposure, which could be very significant for the future of the juveniles. Experts suggest work experience will increase the domain knowledge as well as give the practical knowledge of the concepts which can later be easy to grasp during higher education. For instance, doing some projects in the area of computers will bring knowledge before the actual theoretical study and thus prepare the students well ahead of time. Also, such experience can assist them in choosing their core qualification.
On another side, travelling makes juveniles lazy and moves them away from the habit of studying and discipline, which can influence their life negatively. In addition, they can encounter troubles with the educational process when they return to universities after a gap year. For example, it may be difficult for them to concentrate on educational activities or learn new subjects. Hence, free time is not suitable for everyone.
To recapitulate, it is proved by the above discussions that a gap year is more crucial for gaining experiences than travelling. It helps students to build their portfolios by taking up a wide array of projects as well as doing internships.
