Some people believe the aim of university education is to help graduates get better jobs. Others believe there are much wider benefits of university education for both individuals and society. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
It has been argued by a handful of masses that tertiary education assists students to get lucrative employment. Others consider that it has numerous benefits not only for the job holders but also for society. In my perspective, society and individuals can reap the fruit as people will be able to raise their standard of living, and the community will be crowded with intellectual persons.
To commence with, those who consider that higher education is conducive for candidates to obtain a high title. They say because to get any job, an educational qualification is a must. It helps in acquiring a high salary as well as promotion based on the degree of a person. For instance, in MNCs, mostly higher academic qualification is a yardstick to measure the capability of an employee. Without a hitch, interviewees are selected. Thus University education helps in getting a good job. Moreover, without getting a degree, a person is not able to take part in competitions, namely IAS, PCS, and to name but a few. The more they learn, the more they earn.
By contrast, tertiary education is reckoned advantageous for both the community and its people. If students finish their tertiary education, they are capable of rendering their services for the welfare of society. They help the community to get rid of false beliefs by giving rational views. The masses of a locality feel blessed with the presence of such intellectual minds. To exemplify it, many times, it has been seen that laymen, due to ignorance, believe in supernatural powers and lead miserable lives. Sometimes this kind of attitude of society takes the life of an innocent creature. Thus a locality can be emancipated from baseless fears. Besides, individuals who are literate are rewarded by the people of their areas. It becomes a better society to live in.
To conclude, thus, higher education is not only useful for the person to obtain a job, but it also helps the society to bring some modifications in its attitude and abandon the conservative point of view. The community will be crowded with literate people who can give birth to a new locality with its radical ideas.
