The best way to solve the world’s environmental problems is to increase the cost of fuel for cars and other private vehicles. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
The world is currently faced with several issues when it comes to the protection of the environment. There is the belief that the most effective way to combat this is by raising fuel prices for cars and other vehicles of private ownership. Personally, this notion is completely disagreed with since the cost of the fuel really does not affect its consumption, neither does it do much to protect the environment.
It is very clear that emissions released from cars cannot compare to that from factories. Scientists have from times past cautioned that the waste produced from industries and factories does more harm to the ozone layer. Simply making fuel more expensive is a futile attempt at environmental protection.
Furthermore, oftentimes fuel prices increase to up to 90% within a year. Although citizens and vehicle users bemoan these increments, it does nothing to reduce the use of cars. On the contrary, more and more people are purchasing cars for private usage. Clearly, it is not how exorbitant the price of fuel is that discourages the use of cars to save the environment.
Moreover, protecting the environment involves so much more than merely causing a decline in the operation of cars. Other hazards destroy the environment, such as improper waste management, deforestation without afforestation, manufacture and use of non-biodegradable products, just a name a few. The single action of making the price of a fuel rocket is not enough.
To conclude, reducing emissions from cars and other vehicles is important; however, causing fuel prices to soar is an inefficient method. To solve the world’s environmental problems, regulations on factory waste disposal and emissions, the creation of green spaces as well as recycling of waste must be prioritized.
