The First Car Appeared on British Roads in 1888. by The Year 2000, (1)

The first car appeared on British roads in 1888. By the year 2000, there may be as many as 29 million vehicles on British roads. Alternative forms of transport should be encouraged and international laws introduced to control car ownership and use.

The ever-increasing number of vehicles on the road has caused traffic congestion and pollution. In the bygone days, the number of cars was limited; but the passage of time and advanced technology increased the number of vehicles. I entirely agree that other forms of transport like bicycles, trains must be introduced along with the condition of having one car per family.

To commence with, a surge in the number of cars has deteriorated the environment, and the release of toxic gases from the fuel of the vehicles have made the people victims of many diseases like asthma, skin allergy, to name but a few. Moreover, people are unable to go outside to pass their leisure time due to heavy traffic and congested places. The incessant sound of blowing horns is another great problem for people who are heart- patients.

On the other hand, alternative forms of transport must be used like bicycles, trains or buses, underground passages to reduce the traffic as well as carbon-dioxide emission. Apart from it, laws to have one car per family must be introduced and it will not only ease their financial burden but also people get peaceful ambience. Enforcing laws strictly will make the people physically agile and responsible citizens of a country. However, today’s paradigm shift has raised the status of people but has increased their problems too. They are getting obese, adopting a sedentary lifestyle and being unsocial as well.

In conclusion, to protect the environment as well as animal species, it becomes mandatory to use other forms of transport, buses, trains, underground passages, bicycles and so on. It will not only reduce carbon dioxide emission but also make the people more social, develop aesthetic sense and of course more responsible for keeping their environment neat and clean. Enforcement of the law to keep one car per family will add more charm. People will come closer and live in a noise-free environment.
