Overall, the all-time favourite place to move to was Australia, while the least number of people travelled to France over the period.
To begin with, in 2004, 40,000 people immigrated to Australia, which was approximately 6,000 higher than for Spain and twice as high as the other three countries. Moreover, 38,000 British people moved to Australia in 2005, and around 33,000 to 34,000 people immigrated to Spain and France in the same year. New Zealand had 22,000 British immigrants. However, the USA had the lowest number of immigrants, with only 18,000.
In 2006, the highest number of people left the UK and settled in Australia, with over 50,000 people, approximately 18,000 higher than Spain. New Zealand and the USA had 21,000 and 18,000 people move to these places, respectively. In addition, in 2007, the same trend continued as in 2004 for all five countries.
