The only way to Reduce the Amount of Traffic in Cities Today Is by Reducing the Need for People to Travel from Home for Work, Education or Shopping. to What Extent Do You Agree or Disagree?
The increasing traffic supports the rise in air pollution. Although many people believe that reducing the travel distance of offices, schools, and malls from home can bring down the proportion of traffic in urban areas in recent times, I partly differ from this statement to a large extent for some reasons. My position is argued in the following paragraphs with explanations.
To begin with, out of all the reasons to agree with this thinking, the foremost one is that it takes less time, and people can go there by taking a walk, which reduces the use of vehicles. It is like killing two birds with one stone because when an individual stays near their workplace, educational centre, or malls, they will prefer to reach that place by walking or by cycling, and they use fewer cars or two-wheelers, which are the main reason for traffic. Furthermore, this is not the only way to reduce traffic in cities. Despite the smaller distance between places and homes, the government can implement strict rules for the traffic system.

However, I would not overlook the other side, either. Out of all the reasons to disagree with the given statement, the major one is that not every individual can afford a house near their useful places. This is because the price of accommodation is increasing daily, so it is hard for some people to purchase a house. The price of houses near malls, schools, offices, and gardens is much higher compared to other areas of the city.
To conclude, although reducing travel distance is good for reducing traffic jams, not everyone can afford this solution. Therefore, I believe that we should think of other ways for those who do not agree with this statement.
