The given bar chart compares the average number of minutes of telephone calls in Australia, divided into local, mobile, national, and international, between 2001 and 2008 over a period of eight years.

Overall, from the graph that mobile, national, and international calls have seen a sharp and steady increase. However, the local calls are varying a lot, but it is the highest over the time period.

It is interesting to note that in 2001, 72 billion minutes were made through local calls while the national and international calls were 38 billion minutes and mobile calls are negligible (2%). In the next year, local calls, international and national calls, and mobile calls climbed slightly to 78 billion minutes, 41 billion minutes, and 5 billion minutes, respectively. Similarly, in 2004, 89 billion minutes were made through local calls and had reached a zenith of 90 billion minutes in the next year. At the same time, the international calls show a slight increase to 48 billion minutes and the mobile calls at 9 billion minutes.

In 2006, local calls decreased gradually from 84 billion minutes to 72 billion minutes, which was the same figure in the initial year.
