Information technology is changing many aspects of our lives and now dominates our home, leisure and work activities. To what extent do the benefits of information technology outweigh the disadvantages?
Nowadays, information technology is an inevitable part of our daily life. Although it has several advantages, it has certain disadvantages too. This essay will explain not only its benefits but also its drawbacks. However, I believe that its merits are far outnumbered its demerits.
There are certain benefits of this advancement in information technology. Firstly, it creates more job opportunities because the improvement in the IT field creates more companies. As long as different branches of IT companies are established, it actually demands educated workforces. It can be exemplified by that the technopark offers job for more than 50000 people, and it has branches throughout the world. Hence it develops more job vacancies throughout the globe. Secondly, it contributes to building better infrastructure in terms of governance, convenience and social life. As a result lifestyle of people gets improved.
However, it has some major repercussions like an increase in crime rates as information technology has a dark side too. A recent survey conducted in the United States revealed that 65% of youths committed a crime due to the influence of modern information technology. Another major sinister aspect is the development of a sedentary lifestyle since the invention of technology reduces manual labour. Therefore diseases are created because of this sedentary lifestyle.
To conclude, although it has some disadvantages such as increased crime rates and development of sedentary lifestyle. It has an extremely positive impact like increased job opportunities and betterment of daily lives. Hence I believe that its benefits outweigh the drawbacks.
