Today Many Children Spend a Lot of Time Playing Computer Games

Today many children spend a lot of time playing computer games and little time on sports. Why is it? Is it a positive or negative development?

In the contemporary era, a large number of children are spending most of their time playing computer games rather than doing physical activities. It is a negative development; I will discuss the same in the following paragraphs.

Nowadays, Personal computers and laptops are more affordable, and many houses owe one. Due to this, children spend away time playing computer games. Moreover, Parents are not bothered about the screen time because they will not be disturbed. As a result, children feel that outdoor sports require more physical activity and tiring. For instance, a recent survey done by “The Hindu” stated that 65% of children and adolescents play computer games in their free time. These computer games lead to health problems in children, such as eye problems and obesity. Sometimes children have to deal with depression and anxiety while playing these games.\

There might be a change in the behavior of children. These games involve shooting, killing, and fighting each other. It increases violence and rebel attitude in children. Children are wasting their valuable time by playing these games. Consequently, their focus on education will be decreased. Eventually, lead to the low grade in their subjects and their future is in jeopardy. This habit of playing computer games has harmful effects on their physical and mental health. When children spend more time on screen, they are isolated from society.

In conclusion, affordability in recent times has enabled many families to own a personal computer. Children rarely spend their time outside due to these machines. This is a negative development; it can lead to detrimental effects in the long run.
