Most people today communicate using mobile phones and computers, and this has affected their need to meet face-to-face. Do the advantages of this development outweigh its disadvantages? Give reasons for your answer and include relevant examples from your knowledge or experience.
A growing number of people are now using different approaches in their communication which are technologically oriented instead of the conventional physical approach. The benefits surpass the drawback because it retains relationships and also saves time and money.
Relationships are always based on values placed on people. This is often the case because when we hold someone in high esteem, the conversation is always the building block, even if the person is afar. Computers and phones have features that bring our valued ones closer to us. Video calls, for instance, give one the opportunity to see and speak with whoever one is calling, making the person appear closer. Hence, the advent of these gadgets has made relationships stronger.
Another pro to this is that it saves funds and time. Although people will argue that falsification of information is possible during online interaction, however, it reduces both time and transport fare. To illustrate, a friend of mine who lives in Abuja has expressed his gratitude to zoom developers during this pandemic because he no longer risks his life in the course of travelling to and fro. Rather, he sits in the comfort of his home; with a little data, he puts calls across to his family in another town; not only does he hear their voices, but he also sees them. Therefore, online calls make life easier and cheaper.
In conclusion, though people may twist information over the various online communication medium, the benefit of retaining friendships and incurring fewer expenses and time is greater.
