Some Feel Governments Should Invest in Preserving Minority Languages

Some feel governments should invest in preserving minority languages, while others feel this is not a good use of resources. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Nowadays, some people believe that it is worthwhile for the government to prioritize the investment in the preservation of the various languages. In my opinion, this sentiment is justifiable in spite of bounded prospective efficacy.

First, proponents support this proposal because of their belief to preserve the language as it is a gift from ancestors and to remain connected with our culture. To elucidate, India is a country where more than 100 languages are spoken, and different languages have their own meanings and cultures. As a result, they have their own identity. Therefore, it is imperative to preserve the basic tone of the town.

Nevertheless, detractors question that conserving the language spoken by the least amount of people is just a waste of resources. Furthermore, to earn and sustain themselves in the modern world, minority people require knowledge of the most widely spoken language. In fact, many people started to migrate towards the cities and join the modern workforce. For example, in India, the most common language is Hindi. In order to communicate with other people requires language knowledge. In addition, after globalization, it’s become important to learn the common language in order to communicate. Therefore, efforts by the government to oppose the young generation’s desire are unlikely to be successful.

In conclusion, regarding the potential challenges faced for preserving the language, it is essential to continue the existence of the new generation. Therefore, the government should take the initiative to continue and protect this language.
